  • Delmarva Power President Gary Stockbridge will visit First State Manufacturing in Milford Jan. 17 to discuss Delaware's Success Plans and Roads to Careers (SPaRC) Initiative and how businesses can become more involved.
    Stockbridge will present to local businesses at 7:30 a.m. at First State Manufacturing, located at 301 S.E. 4th St. in Milford.
    SPaRC is a partnership between the business community, educational system and community services organizations to build strong student success plans. Beginning with high school students, SPaRC aims to transition student plans into career opportunities with local businesses through internships, summer jobs, job shadowing and e-mentors.
    The steering committee for SPaRC includes representatives from the United Way of Delaware, The Business Roundtable, Department of Labor, Delaware Economic Development Office, Department of Education, Delaware Workforce Investment Board, Junior Achievement of Delaware, the Rodel Foundation, Delaware State Chamber of Commerce and the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce.
    Light breakfast and coffee will be served.
