  • Throughout Sussex and Kent counties, there are a number of hot spots where you can ring in 2014 with heavy force. So we've narrowed down five New Year's Eve parties that you and your friends won't want to miss on Tuesday.
    Abbott's Grill New Year's Eve Party

    Abbott's Grill will welcome 2014 with a black and white theme, and it invites its patrons to do the same. Patrons are encouraged to wear their favorite black and/or white attire.
    Providing the night's soundtrack will be DJ Petch.
    While drink and food specials haven't all been finalized yet, you can be sure that there will be a $5 deal on a sparkling martini, and a champagne toast will be offered. Party favors like hats and ringers will also be available to help celebrate the big event. And after the ball drops, a complimentary breakfast buffet will be served from 12:30 to 1:30 a.m.
    "I'm excited to ring in 2014," said Abbott's Grill manager Amy Wyatt. "I'm excited about the black and white theme. I think it's cool."
    Dover Down's New Year's Eve Bash

    The Fifth Level Band will deliver an explosive show at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino's New Year's Eve Bash in Dover. In addition to the concert, hors douvres will be served from 8 to 9:30 p.m., and a champagne toast will be held at midnight.
    The Fifth Level is a dance band that takes audiences on a fantastic voyage from the '70s through the present, spotlighting a heavy collection of mostly R&B hits, with some rock, funk and hip-hop mixed in.
    Tunes from its repertoire includes The Commodores' "Brick House," The Bee Gees' "Jive Talkin'," Luther Vandross' "Hear and Now," Naughty By Nature's "Hip Hop Hooray," Whodini's "Freaks Come Out at Night," DJ Kool's "Let Me Clear My Throat," Trey Songz's "Bottoms Up" and Pitbull's "Give Me Everything."

    The Ashley Mitchell Band will melt the dance floor with a cornucopia of simmering pop covers in the Bonz Lounge at Harrington Raceway & Casino in Harrington.
    Covers in AMB's songbook include Salt-N-Pepa's "Shoop," Ed Sheeran's "Small Bump," Bruno Mars' "Grenade," Rihanna's "Only Girl in the World," Stevie Wonder's "I Wish," Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love," Mike Posner's "Cooler Than Me" and Cobra Starship's "Good Girls Go Bad."
    Known for gigging throughout Delmarva with its vibrant and fun personality, AMB continues to rise up the ranks as one of the top cover bands in the First State's music scene.
    'Moo Year's Eve'

    Tuesday might mark Dogfist Head's most off-beat New Year's Eve celebration yet as it'll ring in 2014 with "Moo Year's Eve" ─ a night that glorifies all things beef.
    Two seatings will be available on the night, with the first at 6 p.m., and the second at 8:30 p.m.
    The first course on the "beef-tastic" menu will feature beef consommé with oxtail ravioli and micro greens (paired with American Beauty). Second course will feature house smoked brisket, crispy liver, stone ground mustard, caraway streusel and greens (paired with 2010 Burton Baton). The third course will offer cuvee de cheesecake, 24-hour caramelized onions, Cabot cave age "Velveeta," shaved black truffles and beef-fat French fries (paired with red Saison). Fourth course will feature s'more ice cream, wood-grilled graham crackers, "Bitches Brew" fudge and beef belly bacon (paired with 2010 Bitches Brew).
    In keeping with the night's theme, none other than The Bullbuckers will grace the stage. The Bullbuckers are a brass band with island-rooted dance grooves influenced by American and Caribbean music, as well as soul and rock 'n' roll.
    Rusty Rudder's New Year's Eve shindig

    You can have all the Buffalo wings, shrimp and oysters that you desire at the Rusty Rudder in Dewey Beach.

    The featured musical acts on the night are Love Seed Mama Jump (a pop-driven original band with one of the most peculiar names ever), Blue Label (an outfit that covers everything from Black Dog and Dog Days to Etta James, The Beatles, Zac Brown and Mumford & Sons, Rihanna and Pitbull), DJ Hector and DJ Nutz.
