  • The Milford Police Department's Criminal Division arrested a Milford woman on Dec. 19 stemming from an identity theft incident that occurred in April.
Detectives were contacted by the 55-year-old female victim, who was residing in another state, and advised that her identity was used to secure a bank loan, said Milford Police Spokesman Detective Dwight Young. The loan was deposited into the victim's bank account and then allegedly removed by a suspect during the month of April 2013.
An investigation revealed that Charde R. McMillan, 25 of Milford, posed as the victim, secured the loan over the Internet while residing at a residence in the 600 block of S. Walnut St., Milford, deposited it into the victim's bank account, then removed it from the victim's account and deposited it into another bank account before finally spending the money, Young said.
McMillan was charged with identity theft, theft of $1,500 or greater and second-degree forgery. She was arraigned and released on a $`15,000 unsecured bond.
McMillan was in the news earlier this year when the Delaware State Police issued a Gold Alert for her in October. She had been reported missing on Oct. 6, but was found unharmed later that day.
