  • A 24-year-old Milford man was arrested by Milford police after officers received reports of a suspect breaking into vehicles in the area of N.E. 7th Street around 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 5.
Milford Police Department spokesman Detective Dwight Young said a police investigation revealed that the suspect, Steven D. Schaffer, removed property from a local residents' car and fled on foot. Police located the suspect on a street nearby and took him into custody.
The stolen property was found in Schaffer's possession, along with two syringes and other illegal, narcotic-related items, Young said.
Schaffer was charged with third-degree burglary, theft under $1,500 and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $4,000 secured bond.
Young said the police investigation is still on-going.
