  • Louise Beck Pittman, 101, of Camden, SC, formerly of Greenwood and Seaford, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at KershawHealth in Camden, SC. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made in her memory to Karesh TLC, 1315 Roberts Street, Camden, SC 29020 or Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter, 460 S. Fair Street, Camden, SC 29020. Louise Beck Pittman, widow of George T. Pittman, died Thursday, December 5, 2013. She was born in Springfield, MO on October 9, 1912, the daughter of the late G. W. and Frances Beck. Louise was a graduate of Chester High School (1930) in Chester, PA. In 1933 she graduated from Wilmington General Hospital, in Wilmington, DE as a Registered Nurse. Louise was voted “most conscientious and funniest” in her class. She married George Pittman in Port Arthur, Texas on May 28, 1937. In 1948 they moved to Greenwood, DE to be closer to family. Louise lived in Seaford, DE from 1989 to 2003 before residing in Camden, SC, with her daughter, Joan Dillard. During her time in Seaford, DE, she was an active member of the Atlanta Road Alliance Church. Louise was a wonderful homemaker, outstanding cook, gardener and seamstress. Louise is survived by her daughter, Joan Dillard of Camden, SC; son, George T. Pittman, Jr. (Diane) of Lewes, DE and Kailua-Kona, HI. She loved being Grammy to Laura Paasch (Tim) of Glen Allen, VA, Lisa Meares (Lee) of Columbia, SC, Meg Edmunds (Tom) of Columbia, SC, Susan Pittman of Lewes, DE and Kailua-Kona, HI, and Beth Whitney (Terry) of Chicago, IL; great-grandchildren, Erin, Kathryn and Will Paasch, Walt and Sallie Meares, Tommy, Briggs and Annie Edmunds, and Aidan Whitney. “Talent she had, but she boasted not.” Besides her husband and parents, Louise was predeceased by her four sisters and three brothers.
