A 25-year-old Harrington woman was arrested Dec. 3 for allegedly hindering prosecution while police investigated an assault complaint.
Harrington police responded to a report of an assault at Clarks Corner Apartments at approximately 8:20 p.m., where officers contacted a 19-year-old victim and 25-year-old Kimberly N. Wisseman, said Harrington Police Department spokesman Lt. Earl Brode.
During an investigation, police determined that the 19-year-old victim was at Wisseman's residence when Wisseman's boyfriend, who has not been identified, arrived and began striking the victim with a baseball bat, Brode said.
The 19-year-old victim was suffering from non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
During police interviews, Wisseman refused to cooperate or give the identity of her boyfriend, Brode said.
Wisseman was taken into custody and transported to the Harrington Police Deparment for further questioning where she continued to be uncooperative with officers, leading to a charge of hindering prosecution, Brode said.
Wisseman was processed and arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released on a $500 unsecured bond.
Police are still investigating the identity of the assault suspect.
