  • Police search for wanted Harrington sex offender

  • The Delaware State Police Sex Offender Apprehension and Registration Unit is looking for a Harrington-area man after he failed to register his sex offender status.
    George W. Acree III, 46, is a Tier II, or medium-risk offender, and investigators obtained warrants for his arrest after they learned that he failed to register as required by law, said police spokesman Cpl. John Day.
    Acree is described as a black man, 6 feet 2 inches in height, weighing 178 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes and is suspected to be in the Harrington or Camden area, Day said.
    According to the Delaware Sex Offender Central Registry, Acree has been a registered sex offender since 2001. He was convicted of fourth-degree rape for sexual intercourse with a victim less than 18 years of age in 2000, according to the Registry.
