The Carlisle Fire Company responded to a house fire with reported explosions in the 6300 block of Big Stone Beach Rd. at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 14, the cause of which is currently under investigation.
Upon arrival, fire units found a house fully engulfed by smoke and flames. The Carlisle Fire Company was assisted by the Houston, South Bowers and Ellendale Fire Companies on the scene. Crews attempted to make entry, but a collapsed roof forced all efforts to be conducted from the exterior of the house, said Carlisle Fire Company spokesman Ryan Knowles.
One occupant was transported to Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, treated for minor injuries and released, Knowles said.
The Frederica and Ellendale Fire Companies also assisted by providing coverage at Carlisle Fire Company during the response efforts, Knowles said.
The house was unable to be recovered and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Delaware State Fire Marshall’s Office.
