A 21-year-old Lincoln man may be facing drug charges after he allegedly caused a three-vehicle crash Sept. 4 in Georgetown.
According to the Delaware State Police, the crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. as Timothy E. Daniels was operating a 1999 Mercury Mystique eastbound on Seashore Highway in the area of Vaughn Road. Police said for unknown reasons, the Mercury crossed the center line and into the westbound lanes where it struck head-on a 2006 Pontiac G6 being operated by 50-year-old Elidio Munoz Cruz of Bridgeville. Police said the impact of the collision sent the G6 backwards and into the path of a 2009 GMC pickup being driven by 65-year-old Jerry W. White of Laurel, who had pulled onto the westbound shoulder in order to attempt to avoid the crash.
Police said Daniels was transported to Beebe Medical Center where he was treated and released with non-life threatening injuries. He was then transported back to Troop 4 in Georgetown where he is being held pending criminal charges, as drugs may have been a contributing factor in the incident.
Deanna M. Storms, 21, of Dagsboro was a passenger in Daniels' vehicle. She was airlifted to Christiana Hospital with serious injuries. Cruz and his wife, 53-year-old Maria G. Sandoval-Gordillo, were transported to Beebe Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. White was not injured in the crash.
