A Laurel woman, identified as Ronaye Dailey, 49, has been jailed on DUI and assault charges following her arrest Aug. 10 in Harrington.
The case began when Harrington Police officers tried to stop Dailey’s vehicle for a traffic violation while on U.S. Route 13, said police spokesman Lt. Earl Brode. Dailey allegedly fled from the officer before stopping at the end of West Milby Street, Harrington.
Brode said Dailey refused to get out of the vehicle and tried to flee again, but was removed from the vehicle and placed in custody. During this time, she allegedly continued to yell and curse at the officer and tried to kick out the rear window of the officer’s patrol car. She refused an intoxilizer test while at the police headquarters and allegedly assaulted a nurse when taken to Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital for a blood draw, Brode said.
Dailey was charged with resisting arrest with force, disregarding a police officer’s signal, offensive touching of a hospital employee, driving under the influence, criminal mischief under $1,000, driving with a suspended or revoked license and several other traffic violations.
A second woman who was in Dailey’s vehicle also was taken into custody. The nurse sustained minor injuries.
Dailey was jailed at the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $6,305 secured bond.
