A 20-year-old Milford man was arrested by the Harrington Police Department after allegedly attempting to conceal marijuana during a traffic stop.
On Tuesday, police on patrol on Route 13 stopped a vehicle in the area of Porter Street after determining the owner of the vehicle was wanted by Sussex County Court of Common Pleas, said Police Spokesman Lt. Earl Brode.
The owner, 20-year-old Brandon L. Parks, was seated in the passenger seat when officers asked him to exit the vehicle. He resisted arrest and was taken into custody after a brief struggle, Brode said.
Officers placed Parks in the rear of a patrol vehicle while speaking to the rest of the passengers in the stopped vehicle. Returning to Parks, officers observed a green, leafy substance on his shirt, Brode said.
Upon reviewing the patrol car’s in-car camera, the officer observed Parks pulling a baggie containing marijuana from his buttocks area and eating its contents, Brode said.
Parks was transported to the Harrington Police Department for processing and charged with tampering with physical evidence, possession of marijuana, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A computer check confirmed that Parks was wanted by Sussex County Court of Common Pleas for failure to appear for drug diversion.
Parks was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of a $15,000 cash bond and a $3,750 unsecured bond.
