Troopers with the Delaware State Police have arrested a Harrington man after he allegedly raped a woman at gunpoint.
Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier said troopers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Vernon Road, west of Harrington, around 9:25 p.m. Wednesday after a 911 call was received about a rape. When troopers arrived, they contacted the 22-year-old female victim, who said the suspect, identified as Jerome L. Hall, 53, had held a gun on her and forced her to perform sexual acts.
The victim was able to free herself after a struggle and flee to a next door residence to report the incident. The victim was taken to Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital where she was examined.
A search warrant was obtained at the house and troopers and detectives were able to located a black BB gun, drug paraphernalia, and a used condom, Fournier said.
Hall was taken into custody at the scene without incident and taken to Troop 3 where he was charged with first-degree rape, aggravated menacing, first-degree unlawful imprisonment and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center, Smyrna, in default of a $15,500 secured bond.
