Milford Police have arrested a New York man in connection with a recent spate of bad checks at Wal-Mart stores in the area.
Dane A. Williams, 22, was taken into custody by officers with the New York City Police Department in May, and extradited to Milford on June 5, said department spokesman Det. Dwight Young.
Williams and another person allegedly used forged traveler's cheques at Wal-Mart stores in Milford, Georgetown and Seaford to buy merchandise, which they would then return to a different store for a cash refund.
Milford Police charged Williams with second-degree conspiracy and theft by false pretense over $1,500. He was jailed at the Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, in default of an $11,000 secured bond.
Information on Williams' alleged co-conspirator was not released.
Young said similar charges against Williams also were filed by the Seaford Police Department.
