Harrington Police have charged a 70-year-old Greenwood woman with her fifth instance of driving under the influence.
The incident took place Monday afternoon in the area of Liberty Street, said police spokesman Lt. Earl Brode, when officers stopped a car traveling 54 mph in a 35 mph zone.
Officers detected the smell of alcohol when talking to the driver, identified as Julia A. Bradley, and administered field sobriety tests, Brode said. A computer check at Harrington Police headquarters indicated Bradley had been convicted four times for driving under the influence since 2000.
Bradley was charged with fifth-offense DUI and speeding. She was ordered held at the Sussex Correctional Institution after failing to pay a $4,100 secured bond.
