  • Milford Police have charged a Scranton, Pa., man in connection with an assault on an off-duty police officer during a fight outside a local bar.
William C. Kittrell, 40, turned himself in May 20, said police spokesman Det. Dwight Young.
The incident took place May 4 at the Park Place Bar when the officer, who had identified himself as a policeman, tried to get several disorderly persons to leave. Kittrell allegedly went up to the officer and in spite of being told the officer's identity, yelled profanities and then punched him in the head from behind.
The officer received a minor injury that did not require medical treatment.
Kittrell was charged with third-degree assault of a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct.
He was released from custody on a $1,100 unsecured bond.
