  • From lawyers to wannabe cowboys, men from all walks of life will hit the runway in the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Milford's second Girls Night Out event at the Rookery North tonight.
The men will go for the gusto in an all-male fashion show where the winner will be crowned "Milford's Most Marvelous Man." But that's not all. Girls Night Out will also include girly games (guess that chick flick and win a prize) and approximately 18 vendors (from Burgers-N-Beans to Origami Owl jewelry). Not to mention, there will be door prizes from each vendor and a raffle for a weekend getaway for two to the Atlantic Sands Hotel Conference Center in Rehoboth. The package includes two 60-minute massages at the Fusion Day Spa in the hotel.
Proceeds from Girls Night Out will benefit the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition and Chamber of Commerce for Greater Milford.
Last year's fashion show was a bit more serious, since the show was an all-female event featuring breast cancer survivors as the models. This time around, tonight's fashion show will present a more lighthearted event aimed to help raise at least $5,000, compared to the $2,000 raised last year, said CCGM Executive Director Jo Schmeiser.
The 14 handsome models will strut their stuff to custom soundtracks that complement their outfits/profession.
"We're doing it really lighthearted," Schmeiser said. "It's something that's new and that hasn't been done before in this area that I'm aware of. They get to choose their own music. We'll have a little bit of everything from James Bond to 'Fire' [by the Ohio Players] and, of course, that's the fireman [in the fashion show]."
Adding to the fun, each gentleman will be auctioned off for a dance, so remember to stow away a few extra dollars in your purse. And also be mindful that not every model will be a bachelor, so don't try anything sneaky on the dance floor.
Unlike last year's event, the models are tasked with individually raising funds for Girls Night Out, which is another reason why Schmeiser is hopeful tonight's event will outdo last year's. And the model who earns the most dough will be rewarded with the distinguished title of "Milford's Most Marvelous Man."
"They're very competitive about how much money they can raise to become 'Milford's Most Marvelous Man,'" beamed Schmeiser. "It's going to be fun."
