The Delaware Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will hold a kitten and puppy "Baby Shower" Donation Program from April to May 15 at and around its Stanton and Georgetown facilities.
The Delaware SPCA is reaching out to encourage donations from its Wish List as it prepares to care for the annual surge of homeless kittens and puppies that will come into the shelters this spring. Items include: Kitten Milk Replacers (KMR), Wet Kitten & Puppy Food, small plastic tubs 10" x 11" or similar, cat and dog toys, cat treats, kitten baby bottles, wash cloths/baby cloth diapers and more. Sussex Volunteer Orientations – April 4 and 7
Members of the community are encouraged to learn about volunteer opportunities at the Georgetown Shelter (22918 DuPont Highway) on the first Thursday (5:30 p.m.) and first Sunday (2 p.m.) of the month. Low-Cost Vaccine Clinics in New Castle and Sussex Counties
Low-cost vaccines will be available on Saturday April 6 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. These include:
- Canine and Feline distemper vaccines - $10 each
- Canine Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine - $10 each
- Rabies vaccine - $15 each (must be 12 weeks of age or older)
- Microchip - $25 – permanent identification for pet-owner reunification
Payment is cash only and no appointment is required. Clinics will be held that day at: Delaware SPCA, Stanton Shelter, 455 Stanton Christiana Rd in Newark, and Doggies at the Beach, 18806 John J. In celebration of the 6th Annual Delaware Week for the Animals, Dogtopia is hosting an Open House and Adoption Event featuring Delaware SPCA adoptable dogs. Includes free admission, Java Puppy Mobile Espresso Coffee Truck, Drizzles Desserts, Giggybites Bakery and Joan Wheeler Photography will be on hand to take photos of your favorite pet and/or family member, with a $20 sitting fee.
