An early-morning fire erupted at home in Greenwood Sunday morning, causing two to be hospitalized.
The blaze was reported shortly before 5 a.m. in the 14000 block of Oak Road, Greenwood, according to the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office. The Greenwood Fire Company arrived on the scene with flames shooting rom a house trailer.
Two occupants, a 29-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were found after the fire at a home in Lincoln. Both were rushed to Milford Memorial Hospital for injuries.
Investigators from the Fire Marshal’s Office were called to the scene and are currently conducting an investigation into the fire’s origin and its cause. Fire damage was estimated at $65,000.
The 29-year-old male victim suffered second degree burns, fire officials said. He was transferred to the Crozer Burn Center in Upland, Pa. in critical condition.
The 28-year-old female victim was admitted to Milford Memorial in fair condition suffering from smoke inhalation.
Investigators are also determining if the dwelling was equipped with operational smoke alarms.
