  • MHDC earns EPA's 2013 Energy Star award

  • The Milford Housing Development Corporation recently received a 2013 Energy Star Award for Excellence from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
    Energy Star Awards recognize organizations for their contribution to construction of energy-efficient homes. Winners are selected from the 20,000 organizations that participate in the Energy Star program.
    In 2012, 26 Energy Star-certified homeownership units were developed through MHDC's Self-Help Housing Program for low-income households.
    "Through their excellent leadership and effort in the marketplace, partners like MHDC are ensuring that all Americans can reap the benefits of owning Energy Star homes," said Bob Perciasepe, the EPA's acting administrator.
    MHDC will be receive its award at a ceremony in Washington D.C. on March 26.
    The 36-year-old nonprofit, which has been an Energy Star partner since 2007, previously received regional awards in 2009 and 2010, and a national award in 2012.
