  • A 13-year-old Harrington boy is facing criminal charges following after allegedly pulling a classmate off of some playground equipment.
Harrington Police Department spokesman Lt. Earl Brode said the incident occurred in September 2012 and was initially reported as a sexual assault.
After the girl was interviewed by the Children’s Advocacy Center of Delaware, detectives determined no sexual assault had occurred, he said.
But police reportedly did find that the boy and the girl had been involved in an altercation in which the boy damaged the girl’s phone and pulled her off the playground equipment by her arm, causing her to fall to the ground.
Warrants were obtained charging the boy with offensive touching and criminal mischief under $1,000, Brode said.
The boy turned himself in to police on Sunday and was subsequently released to the custody of his parents, pending a future court appearance in Kent County Family Court, he said.
