The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition will hold a one-day shopping event at the Delaware State Fairgrounds next weekend, offering wedding gowns for $100 each.
The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition will hold a $100 Designer Bridal Gown Sale on Saturday, March 9 at the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington. The sale will feature more than 500 donated gowns from designers like Maggie Sottero, Reem Acra and Alfred Angelo in sizes two to 32.
Proceeds from the event will benefit DBCC programs and services in Delaware. The gowns have been donated by manufacturers, bridal boutiques and former brides, including couture dresses and exclusive designer gowns valued at up to $8,000.
DBCC held the sale last March at Sheraton Wilmington South and again in November at the Delaware State Fairgrounds. Together the two sales raised more than $25,000 for the organization.
"We are so thrilled that so many brides found their wedding gowns at our sale," said DBCC Public Affairs Coordinator Caitlin Dalik. "At the sale in November, brides were lined up for their chance to find their dream dress for $100 and it was such a fun shopping event."
DBCC Executive Director Vicky Cooke said the event is truly a community effort.
"Designers, bridal shops and brides from across the country have donated wedding gowns to raise money for the fight against breast cancer," said Cooke.
The sale is a one-day only event, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All sales will be final and only cash or credit cards will be accepted. Admission and on-site parking are free and open to the public.
The funds raised through the sale will be used to expand DBCC's programs in Delaware and the surrounding communities that will increase breast cancer awareness, promote the importance of early detection, provide access to mammograms and offer support and resources to women and men who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
