Indie music fans are on pins and needles, waiting for the official 2013 Firefly Festival line-up. Rumors are circulating now that the announcement is just days away that recent Grammy nominated acts will perform in Dover.
Red Frog events, the company behind the Firefly Festival, launched its 2013 festival website Tuesday with a sudden announcement on the social media sites Facebook and Twitter.
Fans quickly clamored online, hopeful for a look at this year's line-up. Those hopes were dashed, though, as only a countdown clock was posted, indicating that the line-up will be announced first thing Tuesday morning.
However, USA Today posted an article at 10:19 a.m. this morning stating that the secret is out for at least two acts: The Lumineers and Vampire Weekend.
Vampire Weekend, formed in 2006 while its members were studying at Columbia University. The band's self-titled 2008 debut spread like wildfire and produced three radio singles, including "Marsard Rood," "A-Punk" and "Oxford Comma." Their music has a distinct sound and lyrical references worthy of their ivy league educations.
In 2010, Vampire Weekend released their sophomore album, "Contra," which was nominated for a Grammy for "Best Alternative Music Album" but lost out to Firefly alum The Black Keys.
The band's third album, "Modern Vampires in the City" is slated for release sometime this year.
The Lumineers have been a tour-de-force this year with their hit song, "Ho Hey." The band was also nominated for two Grammy Awards: one for best new artist and another for best Americana album.
This year's festival will take place on the property of the Dover International Speedway, renamed by the festival as "The Woodlands" from Friday, June 21 through Sunday, June 23.
Tickets will then go on sale Thursday, Feb. 21 at 12 p.m. EST.
