Two students at W.T. Chipman Middle School in Harrington are facing criminal charges in connection with the assault of a classmate on school grounds, according to police.
Harrington Police Department spokesman Lt. Earl K. Brode said officers were contacted by the parents of the victim, who reported their child had suffered minor injuries at the hands of a 12-year-old and an 11-year-old.
Brode did not say when the alleged assault occurred. The 12-year-old was identified as a boy, although it was not clear whether the other accused child and the victim are also boys.
He did say police obtained warrants charging both accused children of offensive touching and conspiracy.
The 12-year-old turned himself in to police on Monday and was later released to the custody of his parents, pending a court appearance in Kent County Family Court.
Warrants were still on file for the 11-year-old as of Wednesday, Brode said.
