A 12-year-old girl from Frederica was charged with harassment this week after repeatedly pestering another child online, according to police.
Harrington Police Department spokesman Earl K. Brode said the victim’s parents first reported the harassment in September 2012.
At that time, police contacted the girl and directed her to have no further contact with the victim, he said.
The girl reportedly refused to listen to that advice and continued contacting the victim online, prompting police to obtain a warrant for her arrest.
The girl turned herself into to police on Monday and was later released to her parents’ custody, pending a future court appearance in Kent County Family Court, Brode said.
