A Montana man was extradited back to Delaware on Wednesday to face rape charges stemming from the sexual abuse of a 6-year-old Harrington girl.
Jonathan Karasevich, a 24-year-old airman in the U.S. Air Force stationed at Malstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Mont., is accused of sexually assaulting the child multiple times prior to 2009, according to Harrington Police Department spokesman Lt. Earl Brode.
The repeated abuse reportedly occurred at a home in the 300 block of Weiner Avenue in Harrington, where Karasevich lived prior to joining the Air Force.
Police learned of the abuse in January and obtained warrants charging Karasevich with 16 counts of first-degree rape, continuous sexual abuse of a child, sexual solicitation of a child and endangering the welfare of a child, Brode said.
Officers with the Cascade County Sheriff’s Office in Montana arrested Karasevish in mid-January.
Karasevich is now being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown in default of a $167,000 cash bond.
