  • Milford Memorial Hospital’s parent company recently was named one of seven winners of Minority Nurse Magazine’s online first Take Pride Campaign.
The program recognizes hospitals and health care facilities that excel at encouraging diversity, recruiting and retaining minority employees and creates inclusive work environments.
In 2008, Bayhealth established a 20-member diversity committee made up of staff from various disciplines that regularly discusses diversity-related issues at Milford Memorial and Kent General hospitals.
A recent partnership with Delaware State University in Dover also resulted in the 2012 Delaware Cultural Competency Education Series, which educates health care providers about the ways culture influences disease.
The diversity committee and the university also are collaborating on a cultural awareness survey that will be presented at the Bayhealth Nursing Research Conference in April.
