A water pipe burst on the second floor of a Milford Memorial Hospital unit early Tuesday, forcing the relocation of nearly two dozen patients.
Hospital officials said there were no injuries and patient care has not been disrupted.
The medical/surgical unit, known as 2 West, remained closed as of 9 a.m., almost five hours after the ruptured pipe was first detected, according to hospital spokeswoman Ellen Jones.
The pipe break, which occurred to the rear of the hospital, also impacted Milford Memorial's central supply and administration areas, she said.
Jones said it was not immediately clear whether the rupture is related to the recent drop in temperatures experience throughout the region in the last 48 hours.
Visitors to the hospital are being asked to check in at the guest relations desk before visiting patients, so staff can very patient room numbers.
Additional information is expected later today after the full impact of the damage has been assessed.
