The University of Delaware's Cooperative Extension office in Georgetown is currently accepting applications for a twice-weekly Master Foods Educator Training course that will run from Jan. 29 to March 8.
The program will provide 36 hours of training in nutrition, healthy food preparation, food selection and diet.
The course is free for anyone willing to volunteer 40 hours over the next year. Volunteers can choose how they give back, but suggestions include assisting with cooperative extension workshop presentations such as Dining with Diabetes, Eat Smart for a Healthy Heart, Stretching Your Food Dollar and other programs.
The course fee for non-volunteers is $125.
Classes will be held at the Carvel Research and Education Center at 16483 County Seat Highway, west of Georgetown, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
