Peyton Shockley is a young woman who knows what she wants to do with her life. Currently she is a senior and a co-captain on the Milford varsity swim team, but has other plans beyond swimming at the high school level. "I enjoy swimming, but my main sport is field hockey. I am planning to go to Bloomsburg University (PA) and play field hockey there. In addition I plan to major in Speech Pathology," she said.
Shockley began swimming at the age of six and competed with a team called the "Sharks." She has been a part of the Milford team for all four years. She also enjoys the sport for the competition, and said it helps keep her in shape in the off-season for field hockey. "One sport helps the other in keeping me in good shape and ready for either competition," she said.
Shockley participates in the 200 IM, the 100 Butterfly and the 400 Meter Relay events.
Milford coach Michele McKenzie said she is proud of every member of the team, and said she is proud of Shockley's hard word and leadership to her teammates.
The petite young lady said her favorite subject in school right now happens to be Math. Shockley also said she and her teammates, including the boys team, get along very well. "Some of us have been swimming together for all four years, so we work hard together in practices and in competitions and enjoy being together."
