A Milford man is facing an attempted murder charge in connection with the December shooting that sent a man to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.
Eric G. Correa, 22, was taken into custody at an unidentified business in the 900 block of North Dupont Highway about 11 p.m. Saturday after officers received a tip regarding his whereabouts, said Detective Dwight Young of the Milford Police Department.
Young said Correa and the 32-year-old shooting victim engaged in a verbal dispute at a Wawa convenience store sometime between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Dec. 1.
Correa reportedly then followed the man back to the Brightway Commons apartment complex off of Church Street where he shot the victim multiple times before fleeing on foot.
The victim was initially taken to Milford Memorial Hospital and later flown to Christiana Hospital where he was listed in serious condition.
Police did not say whether the victim is still being treated the hospital or has since been released.
Correa is charged with attempted first-degree murder, possession of firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited.
He is being held at the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of a $170,000 cash bond, police said.
