By the age of 9, Breanna Bond already weighed 186 pounds. But thanks to a smart exercise routine and diet, she lost 66 pounds in less than a year. Bond appeared on Monday's Good Morning America to share her inspirational story.

The fifth grader recalled the difficulties her weight imposed upon her, including making it hard to breathe and move around. Bond was also bullied. "Everybody at school would call me names," she said. "They would call me fatty, they would call me fat head."

Bond's battle with obesity began at a young age, with the California native hitting 100 pounds in kindergarten. After no medical reasons could be found for her weight gain, Bond's parents, Heidi and Dan Bond, took control of the situation. Heidi designed an exercise routine to help her daughter lose weight. To show their support of Breanna, the entire family did it with her.

Bond also began following a diet that limited fat to 20 grams per day and joined the swim team. Thanks to her dedication and hard work, she lost 66 pounds within a year.

"She is an inspiration to the world and all children who are having weight issues across America that you can do it with a pair of tennis shoes and motivation," Heidi said.
