  • Bank of America presented the Food Bank of Delaware with a $35,000 donation toward the expansion of the hunger relief agency’s Milford facility this month.
Work on the expansion of the Food Bank’s 12-year-old Milford facility began in September and is expected to conclude next year. The project will double the size of the 8,000-square-foot warehouse off of Airport Road.
Bank of America’s recent donation follows a $20,000 commitment the North Carolina-based bank previously made to the Food Bank’s expansion project.
The announcement of the $55,000 donation came Nov. 16, while 50 bank employees were helping to prepare 1,800 Thanksgiving meal boxes for distribution to organizations served by the Food Bank.
The donation also kicked off Bank of America’s “Give A Meal” campaign, during which the bank will provide a two-for-one match of donations to Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger relief organization.
For every $1 donated through Give A Meal, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation will contribute $2, up to a total match of $1.5 million, through Jan. 7.
That donation is in addition to the bank’s $1 million contribution to the national office of Feeding America.
