Downtown Milford Inc. will hold a pair of Christmas-themed events intended to draw large crowds into town in the coming weeks.
Santa Claus will return to his house on North Walnut Street in grand style on Saturday for a five-weekend stand. The celebration of his return will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a performance by the First State Harmonettes, followed by Santa’s 11 a.m. arrival on a fire truck with a police escort.
Kris Kringle will return each weekend until Dec. 23, with office hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Fridays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
The holiday spirit will spread throughout downtown Milford on Friday, Dec. 7 during the 7th annual Holiday Stroll from 5 to 8 p.m.
In addition to Santa, the event will feature free horse-drawn carriage rides, strolling holiday carolers in full costume and holiday-trimmed store windows throughout the three-block downtown district.
The Milford Museum will be open for the event and City Hall will hold an open house, while the city’s various shops, restaurants, bakeries, art galleries and studios will be offering complimentary hot cider, chocolates and seasonal treats, giveaways and raffles.
