A Dover man driving without a valid license or proof of insurance drove his car into a Felton home on Saturday, injuring a woman and causing the home to be condemned.
Carlot Stinvil, 22, was driving a 1997 Nissan Maxima north on South Dupont Highway, just north of Barney Jenkins Road, about 11:11 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle, according to state police.
The car drove off the roadway and struck a mailbox at 7571 South Dupont Highway before entering a ditch and continuing northbound across two private driveways and crashing through a wooden fence post at 7517 South Dupont Highway, police said.
The Nissan drove across the front lawn before striking the corner of a home's deck. The car continued through the yard, where it struck a dirt berm, causing it to become airborne.
While in the air, the Nissan drove across the back of a 1995 Lexus parked in the driveway at 7497 South Dupont Highway before crashing through the residence there.
At the time of the crash, the home was occupied by three adults, including a 55-year-old woman who was taken to Kent General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A male and another adult female were not injured.
Stinvil also was taken to Kent General with non-life-threatening injuries. He was cited for inattentive driving, driving without a valid license and driving without proof of insurance.
Kent County Code Enforcement officials later condemned the home at 7497 South Dupont Highway due to the structural damage it incurred in the crash.
