In observance of National Bullying Prevention Month, the Delaware Children's Department is sponsoring a variety of activities as part of the SHOUT b cause, No Bullying Delaware campaign.
According to two 2011 studies conducted by the University of Delaware Center for Drug and Alcohol Studies, 35 percent of fifth graders, 26 percent of eighth graders and 16 percent of high school students report being the victims of some type of bullying. During the last week of October, the NBD mascot Jurdy will make appearances at the following locations:
4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Clarence Fraim Boys & Girls Club, 669 S. Union St., Wilmington; 6 p.m. Oct. 26, Neighborhood House, 1218 B St., Wilmington; 9 a.m. Oct. 27, Sea Witch Festival parade, Rehoboth Beach; 3 p.m. Oct. 27, Dover Mall, 1365 N. Dupont Highway, Dover; 3 p.m. Oct. 28, Newark Halloween Parade, Tyre Avenue and Main Street, Newark.
