  • A 16-year-old boy was arrested last week after he allegedly tried to mug a man at gunpoint outside a Milford convenience store.
Detective Dwight Young of the Milford Police Department said the incident occurred in the Royal Farms parking lot in the 500 block of South Dupont Highway about 6 a.m. on Oct. 5.
The teen reportedly entered the passenger side of a vehicle occupied by a 62-year-old man who had just withdrawn cash from the ATM inside the convenience store.
Young said the teen, who was wearing a disguise over his face, pulled out a handgun and demanded money from the victim.
The driver instead got out of the vehicle and attempted to flee, prompting the teen to also flee on foot.
Police later located the teen nearby and took him into custody.
The teen, who has not been identified, is charged with attempted robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony.
He later was committed to The Stevenson House Detention Center in Milford in lieu of a secured bond, Young said.
