  • Milford police used a stun gun to subdue a 20-year-old man after he allegedly assaulted a woman in front of a young child on Sept. 20.
Andre Wisher Jr. and the 19-year-old victim were arguing at a residence in the Milford Crossing Apartments on Moyer Circle East when Wisher grabbed the woman, according to Milford Police Department spokesman Detective Dwight Young.
The victim attempted to call 911, but Wisher knocked the phone out of her hand and began punching her and pushing her into a wall, Young said.
He reportedly then prevented her from leaving the residence by throwing her to the ground and strangling her.
Police arrived at the residence about 8 p.m. and found the woman lying on the floor.
Wisher refused to obey commands and attempted to flee, Young said.
Officers then used a stun gun to subdue him before taking him into custody.
A 1-year-old child who was in the room during the incident was not injured, Young said, adding that the woman was treated for injuries to her face.
Wisher is charged with strangulation, unlawful imprisonment, assault and endangering the welfare of child.
He is being held at Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown on a $7,500 secured bond, Young said.
