A 20-year-old Seaford man was arrested on Sept. 21 after allegedly stealing from a Milford woman twice in three months.
Michael R. Washington first stole from the 20-year-old victim following a June 4 domestic dispute at the Silver Lake Estates Apartments off of North Front Street, according to Milford Police Department spokesman Detective Dwight Young,
In that incident, Washington entered the woman's residence before she returned home and locked the door, preventing her from getting inside, Young said.
The woman was later able to enter the apartment, but was grabbed and strangled by Washington, he said.
The woman managed to strike Washington in the head with a vase and escape, Young said, adding that she later received medical treatment for undisclosed injuries.
Washington reportedly fled the area with undisclosed property belonging to the victim prior to the arrival of police.
Young said the woman again met Washington at her apartment on Sept. 8.
In that incident, Washington removed property from the apartment and fled before police arrived, he said.
Milford police reportedly arrested Washington on Sept. 21, although the circumstances under which he was taken into custody were not immediate clear.
Washington is charged with strangulation, theft, criminal trespass and criminal mischief. He is being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown on a $7,250 cash bond, Young said.
