A 42-year-old Milford-area man was charged last week with soliciting sex from a minor after he allegedly propositioned a 17-year-girl via texts messages.
The Delaware Attorney General's Office announced today that Theodore M. Campbell, a resident of the 100 block of North Landing Drive, was arrested by the Delaware Child Predator Task Force on Sept. 17.
Campbell's arrested was the result of a police investigation that began when the teenage girl and her mother contacted authorities to report the illicit text messages, according to Delaware Department of Justice spokesman Jason Miller.
Investigators determined that Campbell and the girl knew each other and had exchanged text messages.
During that exchange, Campbell sent the teen a text in which solicited a sex act and later sent her an image of male genitalia, Miller said.
Campbell is charged with one count of sexual solicitation of a child under 18 to engage in a prohibited sex act.
Following is arraignment, Campbell was released on a $7,500 unsecured bail.
He also was ordered to have no contact with the victim or her family and was prohibited from using the Internet, Miller said.
