  • A 63-year-old Milford woman was charged with terroristic threatening after leaving a suspicious package in the lobby of the Milford Police Department on Thursday morning, police said.
Agnes A. Adams was taken into custody at her home on N. Sagamore Drive before 4 p.m. Thursday, according to Milford police spokesman Cpl. Robert W. Masten.
Adams is accused of leaving the package in the lobby of the Milford Police Department headquarters at 400 Northeast Front St. just after 7 a.m. and then departing without having any contact with officers.
Masten said officers discovered wording on the package that led them to believe it could contain a harmful substance.
Milford police called in officers from the Delaware State Police Explosive Ordinance Division and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources’ Air and Waste Division to inspect the package, which was later deemed to be safe.
The building was not evacuated, Masten said.
Police said not offer any description of the package or indicate what might have prompted the incident.
Adams is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of a $2,500 secured bail.
