Three local students received the Kent Master Gardener's scholarship for the 2012-2013 school year at the July dinner/meeting.


 


Three local students received the Kent Master Gardener's scholarship for the 2012-2013 school year at the July dinner/meeting.

Each recipient received $1,500 scholarship based on their academic achievement, community involvement and other activities.

Christopher Koehler of Felton is a graduate of Lake Forest High School. He will attend Delaware Technical & Community College to study agriculture landscape and design. He is a 2010 Eagle Scout and helped build a bird and wildlife sanctuary.

Jessie Outten of Harrington is also a graduate of Lake Forest High School. She will attend the University of Delaware and major in biological science/environmental science. She was in the top ten in her class, a DIAA Scholar Athlete and a member of the National Honor Society.

Kandace Burton of Clayton is a Smyrna High School graduate. She will attend West Virginia University to study forest resources management. She was a participant in His Hands and Feed
Ministry, First State Young Marines, Earth Day at Big Oak Park and SEAS road cleanup.
