  • A Milford man was charged with his fifth DUI in 10 years last weekend after leading police on a short car chase near Milton.
Josephi Anastasi, 40, was driving a 1994 Dodge pickup truck above the posted speed limit on southbound State Route 1 near Sylvan Acres Road, north of Milton, at about 11:22 p.m. Saturday when a state trooper attempted to stop him, according to Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier.
Anastasi refused to pull over and began swerving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed, Fournier said.
He eventually turned right onto Reynolds Road, where he lost control of his truck and struck a construction sign and a fence.
Anastasi then ran into a nearby cornfield, where he was apprehended by the trooper.
He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, resisting arrest, disregarding a police officer’s signal, driving on a suspended license, speeding and other traffic related offenses, Fournier said.
Police later learned he previously had been charged with DUI on four occasions since February 1992.
He is being held at the Sussex Correctional Instituion on an $11,759 cash bail.
