  • Howard Chester Towers, age 69, of Milford, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover.


    He was born on March 26, 1943 in Washington, DC, son of the late G. Chester and Doris Brown Towers.

  • Howard Chester Towers, age 69, of Milford, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover.
    He was born on March 26, 1943 in Washington, DC, son of the late G. Chester and Doris Brown Towers.
    Mr. Towers was employed for 30 years in the automotive industry.  His last position prior to retirement was as sales manager for a Ford, Lincoln, Mercury car dealership in Annapolis, Md.
    His love of baseball and natural talent as a player landed him a position for several years as the first baseman for the semi-pro team, Federal Storage.
    Howard enjoyed gardening, and was an avid fan of NASCAR, the Washington Nationals and the Baltimore Orioles.
    He is survived by his wife of eight years, M. Jean Towers; two sons, Bryan C. Towers and his wife, Sheryl of Hughesville, MD, and Jonathan A. Towers of Alexandria, VA; a step-daughter, Kelly Vetters of CA; a sister, Donna Wooten and her husband, Tom of Crofton, MD; and seven grandchildren.
    Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford, to celebrate Howard's life with his family.
    In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the S.P.C.A., Sussex Chapter, 22918 DuPont Blvd, Georgetown, DE, 19947.
