Robert D. Hatfield, 86, of Milford passed away peacefully at Delaware Hospice in Milford on June 25, 2012.
He was born on September, 5, 1925 in Georgetown, DE the son of the late Harold D. and Grace (Thompson) Hatfield.
Robert worked for Diamond State Telephone for over 30 years retiring in 1983. Mr. Hatfield was a former member of the Georgetown Jaycees and past President, Vice President of the Georgetown Kiwanis Club, and President of the Milford Kiwanis. He was a member of the Franklin Lodge #12 AF and AM, and a member of the Ever Green Forest #9 and Tall Cedars of Lebanon and a life member of the Telephone Pioneers. He was an avid fan of golfing, bowling, playing bridge, and enjoyed making airplanes out of cans.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Doris (Borer) Hatfield in 1999.
He is survived by daughters, Barbara Connelly and her husband Larry of Milford, Carol Sollazzo and her husband Mike of Lincoln, son, Gary Hatfield and his wife Laura of Salisbury, MD; loving companion, Marianne Sylvester, grandchildren, Kari Souder and her husband Jonathan, Kris Connelly and his wife Courtney, Melissa Stevenson and her fiancé Eric Enck, Kristen Wright and her husband Brad, Alison Burdett and her husband Ben; great-grandchildren Ethan and Julianna Souder, and Evan Wright.
A Memorial Service was held Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church Street, Milford. Interment was in Union Cemetery, Georgetown, DE.
