A Harrington woman and a Bear man were arrested in Harrington on June 14 during what police say was an attempted heroin sale.

“The two were taken into custody without incident while attempting to sell the drugs,” Harrington Police Dept. Cpl. Adam Gillespie said.

The man was identified as Derrick Carter, 29, of Bear, and the woman as Amber Knolls, 28, of Harrington. Both were charged with possession with intent to deliver a Schedule I narcotic, possession of the drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Carter was also charged with tampering with physical evidence and failure to comply with the process of taking photographs and fingerprints during processing. He was also wanted by the New Castle County police on charges of theft and conspiracy, Gillespie said.

Knolls was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of a $13,000 cash bond, and Carter was committed in lieu of a $17,000 cash bond.
