6th of 28 (Girls); 7th of 30 (Boys): The Buccaneers finished with the best scores of any downstate team but couldn’t crack the top five in the Division II state championship meet on Nov. 13.
Carl Richardson and Molly Bliss once again paced the Milford teams, Richardson finishing 13th in the boys’ race while Bliss was 14th for the girls, followed by Alexis Groce at 15th. Kelsey Cabrera was the next Lady Bucs finisher at 35th, followed by Stef Clendaniel at 51st, Shaimae Sefiane at 61, Amy Wilson at 70 and finally Lydia Cole at 94.
Steve Eshelman came in 29th at 18:43, by far his best career time at Brandywine State Park, in his final race as a Buccaneer. Mike Doughty was 46th and third for the Bucs, followed by Taiwan Savage at 59th, Henry Phalen at 62nd, Josh Johnson at 64th and finally Jeremy Morgan, who placed 98th overall.
Only New Castle schools were able to beat Milford, but both teams were swept aside as Tatnall dominated the boys’ and girls’ races alike. The boys finished with 209 points, 87 ahead of eighth-place Glasgow, while the girls had 176 and beat Ursuline by 49. The boys had the best score of any public school in the race.
