American Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula is preparing for possible winter emergencies by recruiting volunteers to help in their communities. The next Kent County orientation is set for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, at the Kent County Public Safety Building, Dover.
As the winter season is upon us, the American Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula is preparing for potential storms and local house fires. One of the ways of doing this is by recruiting volunteers to help in their local communities
A volunteer orientation is scheduled from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, at the Kent County Public Safety building, Dover.
Volunteers are needed to help as disaster action team volunteers. These volunteers help families when disaster strikes like house fires and flooding. Shelter volunteers are also needed if shelters are open due to inclement weather, like in the cases of last year's snowstorms.
Other opportunities are also available, from teaching lifesaving skills like CPR and First Aid to conducting presentations stressing the importance of being prepared for emergencies to helping at local health and community fairs.
To register for volunteer orientation, residents are encouraged to call the local Red Cross at 1-800-777-6620, option 7, or email firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information, visit www.redcrossdelmarva.org.
