Milford police are searching for a 27-year-old Milford man after police say he held a woman and her children hostage Aug. 26 and threatened to kill her.

The man entered the woman’s residence at the Mispillion Apartments and held her and her children hostage for five hours, said Lt. Edward Huey, spokesman for the Milford Police Department.

The woman escaped and called police, he said.

Police currently are searching for Derrick D. Morris in connection with the hostage situation. He is described as 5-feet-9-inches tall, 165 pounds with tattoos on his neck and right forearm.

He was out on bond stemming from drug charges after a June 11 arrest by Milford  police. He is considered a dangerous and violent person, Huey said.
