Lois Ethel Carpenter, of Milford, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009 at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. She was 78.


Lois Ethel Carpenter, of Milford, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009 at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. She was 78.

Mrs. Carpenter was the daughter of the late Josiah W. and Maude Katherine Dickerson, of Milford.

Mrs. Carpenter graduated from the Allentown Bible Institute. She worked at the Latex Co. for more than 12 years in the office, before she retired in 1963. After her retirement, she worked at the Harrington Dress Factory filling in when needed.

Mrs. Carpenter was very active in the Calvary Wesleyan Church in Harrington and the Old Pilgrim Holiness Church. She taught Sunday school for more than 30 years and played the organ for 32 years. She was an accomplished organist and pianist and loved to sing alongside her husband in the church.

In her spare time, she enjoyed crafts, crocheting and making things with her hands. Mrs. Carpenter will be sadly missed by her close friends and family. She leaves a legacy of hard work, spirituality and a love of God that will be remembered forever.

Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by, her loving husband, John “Jack” Carpenter.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews and extended family.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 21, at Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington. Interment was is Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
