Ervin Harold Williams Jr. departed this life on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008 in Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover. He was born in Milford Jan. 7, 1957 to Rev. Ervin H. Williams Sr. and Mrs. Alice Williams.

Ervin was a graduate of Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes, where he was a member of the High School Band and played football. He was a graduate of Delaware Technical and Community College, Georgetown, where he received a degree in computer technology and microcomputer studies. Working on computers afforded him the opportunity to help people and to share his faith. He loved traveling, football and music, but cooking was his best expression of self.

At the time of his death, Ervin was contracted by Sullivan Cogliano as a Dispatch Engineer. He was previously employed by Accretive Commerce/The Experts in Bridgeville, and with the United Parcel Service based in Harrington, for 11 years. His passion was his work with computers, as evidenced by his work as a self employed Information Technology Contractor and System Administrator.

Ervin was joined in Holy Matrimony with the former Camilla M. Burris on Feb. 14, 2004, with whom he enjoyed sharing his life; serving God’s church was their particular joy. He was a member of Prospect AME Church in Georgetown, where he served as a Trustee, Steward, Church School Superintendent, Church School Teacher, and member of the Senior Choir. He also had a special love for, and faithfully attended, St. James Union AME Church in Frederica, where his father formerly pastured for 15 years. While attending St. James Union AME Church, he assisted his wife in coordinating the 2008 Vacation Bible School and Church School. He also sang with the male choir. He was an avid history buff with a great knowledge of AME history, especially regarding the histories of Prospect and St. James AME Churches.

Ervin leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife, Camilla M. Williams; stepson, Justin A. Burris, Fort Campbell, Ky.; stepdaughter, Orlandra B. Burris, Felton; parents, Rev. and Mrs. Ervin H. Williams Sr., Georgetown; brothers, Elder Richard Morris (Evangalist Sherleena), Salisbury, Md.; and Mervin Williams (Vanessa), Georgetown; brothers-in-law, Calvin Burris and Lauren Burris, Felton, Bryan Burris, Tenn., and Stanley Burris (Mary), Williamsburg, Va.; sisters-in-law, Sheila Moore, and Catherine Bynum, Felton, and Shirley Burris, of Dover; aunts, Mabel Hamilton, Baltimore, Md., Mary Lee Williams, Mary Phillips, Irene Williams, and Rev. Marcella Wilson-Williams, Georgetown; one niece, Vanessa Duncan (Michael), Salisbury, Md.; one nephew/godson, Jaivon Williams, Georgetown; godson, James Jenkins, Millsboro; his great-nephews, Travis, Tyler, Ryan and Michael Jr., Salisbury, Md.; grandmothers-in-law, Thelma E. Dixon, Milford, and Theddress Thorpe, Chester, Pa.; a host of uncles, aunts in-laws, cousins, and friends.

Services were held on Saturday, Dec. 20 at Mt. Zion AME Church, Ellendale. Interment was at Mt. Zion Church Cemetery in Ellendale.
